Terminator 2 (“T2”), the second and last film in the series written and directed by creator Jim Cameron, is notable for a variety of reasons. With this reversal, Schwarzenegger’s Terminator played the role of hero rather than villain. In the sequel, a second T-800 that resembles the Terminator destroyed in the original film again comes from the future, but in this installment is sent to protect both Sarah Connor and son John Connor (Edward Furlong) against the more advanced T-1000 Terminator (Robert Patrick). As Connor plays a significant role in the future by giving birth to the future leader of the resistance movement with their war against Skynet, Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) is also sent back to 1984 to help protect Connor from the Terminator.
