Junior: New Hope-Solebury (NHS) is a very small high school, and I've seen a lot more benefits to that than negatives. I feel like diversity among the staff allows students to gain more perspective and knowledge about the world. Also, the district staff could be a little more diverse. In other words, I think the district would be a lot better if it properly placed students into academic levels that best suited them rather than keeping all the students in one level. At many times, I felt like there were students who were not placed in the right math level, and they could do so much better if they were in a higher place. Also, I would make it so that everyone is given an equal opportunity to express their talents and skills. If I could change anything about the district, it would be the fact that there needs to be more addressing about mental health awareness. The district also provided many opportunities for the students to help the community and be involved in service. There was a lot of focus on being a close and welcoming community. Sophomore: I really liked how inclusive it was. The district provides great preparation for college and guidance during the application process, with excellent teachers and counselors and a great student body, the district is truly a gem in the community. Lebanon School District to any family looking for an excellent education for their children. My children have formed many great friendships with their classmates and the student body is very kind and welcoming. The counselors are also top-notch and have provided valuable guidance and support throughout the college application process for my older son.
They provide a challenging and stimulating curriculum that has prepared my children well for college. The teachers are dedicated and care about the success of each student. As a resident for 15 years, I have had the pleasure of watching my two children thrive academically and socially in Mt. Lebanon School District is an great choice for families looking for a high-quality education. It was frustrating for teachers and our custodial staff. In the new school, with its open spaces and cool new furniture came issues with students thinking they were entitled to not cleanup after themselves. Another problem that I saw arise was discipline. The point system is degrading and it hurts many students mental health. They are a bad way of teaching students key concepts. I was in the advanced class called “Integrated I.” It was great except one thing. My courses and teachers were all very great too, except one. We had many fund raisers that made tons of money for organizations such as Alex’s Lemonade Stand. One thing that I saw was very cool was how all of the teachers and student council members were trying very hard to build our new community. It’s a new school so there are things that will change and are different. Middle school student: I am a student that was at Black Rock Middle School for my seventh grade year and I will be back for my eighth grade.
